It was the WORST golf game of my life! or was it?

I played the worse golf I had played in years, literally. I had just completed 4 straight months of intense emotional clearing and and weeks of consciousness raising and I expected the best game of my life when I played golf with my friend, Bob.

So imagine my surprise as I played so badly that I had to laugh off some off my shots.

As Bob and I started walking off the 18th green, I laughed as I turned to him,
and said, “Well, Bob, it’s obvious that all this personal growth stuff I’ve been
doing didn’t help my golf game a bit!”

“Au contraire!” he thoughtfully responded. “If you had played this poorly before, which you
never have, I would not have wanted to be around you. In fact, you would have been
so upset that no one would have wanted to be near you. I have been astounded as I’ve
experienced your attitude stay so even keel while playing the worse golf I’ve ever seen
you play. I am absolutely amazed!”

He was right, and my laughing about it was an indication of that truth!

What I learned from that experience is that when we have major shifts in
our life, we might not even recognize them even when we’re really looking for
them – but our friends will! It is much easier for other people close to us to notice the differences.

To you and me, we’re just being who we are. Our brain is not wired to easily notice that
we are different today than we were yesterday, or last week, or even last
month – even when we’re really focused on looking for those distinctions.

I’ve learned to look to how those around me are responding to me as a mirror for who
I’ve become and often the reflection surprises me!

In Life’s New Game, participants are going through massive changes in
how they see the world, in their behaviors and their perspectives, yet often
other people notice before they do. So, we encourage them to watch for any
changes in perspectives, behaviors and emotions and acknowledge them
no matter how small they may seem. It is highly likely those changes are
like the rear view mirror on your car, “much bigger than they appear.”

By observing seemingly minor changes and acknowledging them, you
enhance your ability to realize the changes everyone else is already seeing.
And as a side effect, you enhance and accelerate that growth! Win, Win!

So look in the faces around you today. Do you like the reflection you see there?
Namaste,
Ed
